Taipei 101 Mall,  Xinyi District: Fashion Central

Xinyi is a one-of-a-kind tourism area in Taiwan. A product of urban planning, it is the center of fashion and a place where Taipei's future is being created. National Palace Museum

The Taipei National Palace Museum is a world-class museum that hosts an eclectic collection of treasures kept by generations of Emperors ruling from the Forbidden City. The museum is home to hundreds of thousands of historical relics that make up the world's most comprehensive and precious collection of ancient Chinese artifacts. The entire collection covers 5,000 years of China's historical and artistic achievements.

The museum provides Chinese, English, French, German, Japanese, Spanish and Korean language guides and museum-related literature. The museum is a must- see on any visitor's itinerary.

National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall

National Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall is located in the heart of Taipei City. This memorial hall was built in memory of Chiang Kai-shek, the first president of the Republic of China. The memorial hall is white with a blue roof, representing the dominant colors in the ROC flag. As a whole, the colors of blue, white and red express the National Flag and the spirit of freedom, equality and brotherhood. The great building has become a landmark of Taipei City, and it is the attraction most visited by foreign tourists.

Songshan Cultural and Creative Park

The premises were one of Taiwan’s pioneers of modern industry, as well as the first professional tobacco plant. A gracefully simple Japanese modernist structure, the factory features meticulously crafted face cams, glasswork and bronze nails that made it arguably a "model factory" at that time.

Raohe Street (Night Market)

Raohe Street Tourist Night Market is located on Raohe Street, Taipei, 600 meters in length, near Shongshan Railway Station. There is a decorated-archway in front of the entrance. There are various shops and stands in the night market. It presents Taiwanese characteristic and is definitely a place worth visiting.

Xingtian Temple

Located in Taipei City, Xingtian Temple is one of the most popular temples in Taiwan. The temple advocates in building a harmonic society from the philosophies of Confucian and Buddhist. The reasons for its popularity are due to its beliefs in creating a harmonic society, thus establishing public goods to the communities. Other than the famous temple itself, there is a Xingtian Temple underpass avenue. At the underpass avenue, visitors will be able to see numerous fortune telling stands. It is also another popular place to visit when visiting Xingtian Temple. The underpass avenue is also known as the “Fortunetelling Street”. The fortune tellers would offer answers to people who has troubles or vexations.

Lungshan Temple

Lungshan Temple is a famous old temple in Taiwan. It is for worshiping Guanshiyin Budda and other divine spirits. Lungshan Temple is facing the South. Its architecture is a three-section design in shape. There are the front hall, the rear hall and the right/left dragons protecting the middle hall. The layout is square and serene. The temple was built in 1740, during Qing Dynasty. Due to natural disaster and damages caused by men, the temple was restored for several times. The doors, beams, and poles are beautifully decorated. There is a pair of bronze dragon poles in the front hall, four pairs of dragon poles in the middle hall. The sculptures are delicate. There are also exquisite wood sculptures. Among them, the well and Budda setting in the main hall are highly appreciated. The temple has many Chinese poems, verses and lyrics on signs. These add a touch of literature in addition to the religious and sightseeing value.

 

FOOD

For travelers who like good eating, Taipei is a foodie paradise. It is said that, on any street in Taiwan, if you walk three steps, there is a small food shop. Upon walking five steps, you shall bump into a restaurant.

In CNN’s 2015 report on a vote by travelers from around the world on their favorite Taiwan foods, braised pork rice was no. 1, beef noodles no. 2, oyster omelets no. 3, and pearl milk tea (bubble tea) no. 4.
